Its all About Making Money from Property

Telegraph: James Purnell and Geoff Hoon avoided tax on home sales

The Cabinet minister ( Purnell) saved thousands of pounds after informing the parliamentary authorities that Manchester was his “main” home while the tax authorities considered London to be his “primary” residence. Mr Purnell claimed for a £395 accountant’s bill that included “tax advice provided in October 2004 regarding sale of flat” on parliamentary expenses which are intended to cover the costs of running an MP’s office. It can also be disclosed that Geoff Hoon, the Transport Secretary, did not pay capital gains tax on the sale of his London home in 2006. (MPs had a Vested Interest in house prices always going UP).

When the expenses debacle was first broke by the Telegraph a over a week ago now, I was the 1st to post my comments about how
it was now obvious why MPs who were making PERSONAL PROFIT from residential property (Tax money renovations, flipping, tax avoidance, etc) had ignored the heard of elephants in the room, that is UK house price inflation (causing mystery to the vast majority of UK voters, either in the form of massive mortgage mill stones, or exclusion into the poorly regulated and shoddy rental sector).

Unfortunately, at the time, many posters didn't really see this [to me] obvious connection, and at least 2 of the articles were mysteriously pulled by the HPC web site admin. Not sure why ?

It's what we've said on this site for years much to the ridicule of onlookers and work colleagues saying we were insane.
The corruption is now rubber stamped. And it hasn't affected my mental health. Alma!

All in all this just reminds me of really how naive an electorate can be. Really is any of this a surprise. Call me a cynic and let me get blasted by LDOD but what surprises me is not that people have become disillusioned, but its taken this long!
