Our blinkered Government can only see house prices. It will allow people to go hungry as long as the illusion of wealth can be maintained. Printing inflation at the presses will leave those at the bottom of the food chain with nothing on their plates. The French would have the guillotines out by now.

Meanwhile British farmers are switching production away from vegetables into cereals and oilseed rape because the supermarkets won't pay a decent price for them. Thank you Tesco, every little helps.

support your local greengrocer, assuming he still exists. Ours is about 40% cheaper than tesco, and life tastes better.

You don't need to be that clever to notice that food has got a whole lot more expensive.
On this subject, can you believe the stupid and irritating "me-sized portions" ad that the gov are running - like people need telling to give children the right portion size? Wonder how much we're paying for that little piece of wisdom?

the only way round this would be to lower interest rates further, up the borrowing then print money like no one business. only then can this deflation be avoided.
