Rental price index
Renting.co.uk: Residental Rental Price Index
I was curious and searching on Google and came across this.
I thought it was interesting for the renters here.
Seems rents have been falling nationally since late 2007.

Ouch for the BTL brigade ... 2 bed flats consistently under £600, not much of a business opportuntity there chaps ...

Didn't we look at this two years ago on the main forum? It has a surprisingly small (and hence statistically irrelevant) data set...

Those figures are hardly much of a guide, at least month-to-month. There's a 20% drop shown from Feb to March, followed by a near 20% rise to April (which has barely just begun). There's no way actual rents are fluctuating that wildly. The sample size must be far too small.

That's a good find, but as D says, the problem with these guides is the lack of comprehensive underlying data.
But take it from me, wages and rents move pretty much in line (or as the Nationwide express it graphically, the house price-to-earnings ratio moves pretty much in line with the house prices-to-rents ratio.
So if average incomes are flat or falling, it would be no surprise if rents were flat or falling as well.

Have we ever seen real deflation in wages?
