Trust, once destroyed, cannot so swiftly return
FT: Successful bank rescue still far away
Nobody can be confident that the US yet has a workable solution to its banking disaster. On the contrary, with the public enraged, Congress on the war-path, the president timid and a policy that depends on the government’s ability to pour public money into undercapitalised institutions, the US is at an impasse.
It is up to Barack Obama to find a way through. When he meets his group of 20 counterparts in London next week, he will be unable to state he has already done so. If this is not frightening, I do not know what is.

Obama is trying to do what he thinks is best for the good of his nation. So is Gordon Brown for that matter.

I'm starting to change the words "bank rescue" with "derivatives bets bailout" when I read anything in the media. Perhaps it is my cynical nature, but this so unpolitically correct filter of mine makes newspaper news a whole lot more clear.

Please don't get me wrong, fingerbob.
Obama and Brown THINK they are doing what is best for their country.
They are both in denial.

What they think is what will be the best for them and there buddies.
This is not about US when it comes down to the best, only the worst.
Keep a clear head and look at the cold hard facts.
