Tesco to shortly offer current accounts with Mortgages to follow!
Wall Street Journal: Tesco To Open Bank Branches In 30 Stores By Year-End
Tesco plans to open 30 in-store Banks by the end of 2009 with TESCO current accounts being offered within the next 2 years followed by TESCO mortgages some time thereafter.

This is as it should be. Banks go bust and new banks take their place.

I wonder if every little will still help when the repossessions begin.
That would really get Tesco into the high street- no dodgy dealings with estate agents needed here, just repossess and set up a new store......genius.

How many other well run businesses would have set up real banks if the fakes had been allowed to fail?

Correction:
Banks [that do not follow the government lines] go bust and new banks [that follow government lines] take their place.
