Property 'rescue scheme' would change rules governing way in which housing associations spend money
Guardian: David Cameron reveals plan to bring empty homes back to use
The Conservative leader said he would change the rules governing the way housing associations spent their money to make it easier for them to buy or rent properties that were lying empty.
Under the proposals, empty homes being taken over in this way would not have to comply with sustainability guidelines.

What are the housing associations/local authorities going to do with the low-income, jobless or vulnerable tenants after 3-5 years if
"It is also proposed that housing associations be allowed to take over properties for three to five years, with the intention of selling them when prices rise, instead of having to offer long-term tenancies."
Surely that is just postponing not solving the social/affordable housing problem. Anyway, it is wishful thinking on the part of the Tories that prices will rise after 3 - 5 years. Expect a decade of stagnant prices!

Honestly, like the labour party in the eighties, if the best this country can come up with is 'slick' Dave and the old Etonion boys, as an effective opposition, then we're just about as about as buggered as a jailed account on his first night in Belmarsh can be. They voted for the illegal Iraq war, and they voted for all of Teflon Tony's and 'Crash' Gordon's disastrous policies. The new emporer stole their clothes and they simply denied that the government weren't as bare @rsed as themselves or nearly every Daily Star front cover ! Now if only the Lib Dems had had the balls to elect Vince Cable instead of Mr Nick 'isn't the state pension about 30 quid' Clegg, then they might've, just about, been 'king-makers' if there was a hung parliament .
opposition - The act of opposing or resisting. ---------- exactly, not condoning, nor agreeing, nor simply rubber stamping.

Conservatives discover people who don't own their own homes !
It has emerged today, that the conservative party have left the affluent south-east and upon entering an area known as "'norf ov the watfed gap, init" that some people have resorted to renting accomodation rather than lie in a self-certifiaction mortgage to buy a property.
Sources close to Conservative central office were also shocked to hear that not everyone get's away every year for a ski-ing holiday or has a second home in the Dordogne. Conservative leader David Cameron told shining wit news, "If we are elected, the Conservative Party will ensure that every UK citizen has a bank account at Coutts and a free subscription to either Town & Country magazine or a weekend at a health spa of their choice" - When questioned how they would fund these pledges the shadow Chancellor George 'bumfluff' Osbourne said "Look if the labour party can simply make £10 billion quid vanish in under 5 months that sort of banal remake is the sort of thing that could get you 6 months under a conservative administration" .
