Mandelson positioning

Guardian: Mandelson vows to take on the doomsters

Slightly off topic, but Mandelson has been mounting a very heavy PR campaign in his own favour recently. He seems to have morphed into some UK industrial fighter. These manoeuvres bode ill for the election. The very good reason why Hitler wasn't assassinated was due to the fact his replacement would have been much more competent. Further, there hasn't been a squeak from either party over the need to shrink the public sector, perhaps we can hope that such steps will take place after the election. I am concerned that there will be no popular will to change UK direction.

Lord Mandelson of Hoy in the County of Herefordshire has never run a business. All he knows about is politics. Frankly, with his track record of dubious mortgage applications and dodgy passports I doubt if any company would want anything to do with him.

As far as I'm concerned, the most constructive thing Mandy could do, would be to do a 'von stauffenberg' at the next cabinet meeting.

Whichever party wins the next election will be blamed for the medicine that the British public will have to take in order to sort out this mess.

As the sheeple have short memories then perhaps the best result at the next election would be Zanulabour victory, resulting in many years in opposition after the 2014 / 2015 election.

Stillthinking,

Is it possible that Mandelson deliberately got the press to report a story about him defending the economy - and was the swearing a deliberate device to imply that he is a sort of street-fighting man ?
And that he wants some position of power in the cabinet which suits someone with that kind of fighting spirit?

Madelson is a joke - He borrowed to buy property in an unscrupulous deal. It's definitely like the last days of the Major government.

Absolutely. I get the feeling that things are breaking down; BOE will soon collapse and so will the UK government.

I think so mdmick. A more snide version of Heseltine and Thatcher (hopefully anyway considering how that turned out).
