How safe is Darling's seat in parliament?

The Guardian: The global crisis finds its way to Darling's doorstep

"The chancellor is battling the downturn from Westminster. But when he goes home to his Edinburgh constituency, he finds a city numbed by the collapse of RBS and HBOS".......maybe he will dye his hair black and his eyebrowns white to disguise himself
"Anxiety will be heightened on Thursday when that once-turbocharged engine of the Scottish economy, Royal Bank of Scotland, unveils what is expected to be by far the worst performance in the institution's 282-year history. Its 8,000-plus employees in the city, just under 7.5% of the national workforce, will be on tenterhooks awaiting news on whether or not they will have a job."......The wise man builds his house on solid foundations....no sign of that here

Unprecedented double blow of the demise of two banking giants HQed in Edinburgh! How many thousands will lose jobs in this connection, let alone Chancellorship.

Alistair Darling's political opponent Jason Rust says he "marshalled the successful fight to save a local post office threatened with closure."
He sounds like a real heavyweight. Mind you at least he hasn't brought the country to its knees I suppose.

I have an old friend that is convinced that the RBS share price will drop upon the release of the actual loss figure but will rally and is a good long term bet. He's been badgering me into buying some shares convinced the RBS will survive and prosper but I've never been much a gambler. Any thoughts?

Even though he's clearly quite rubbish, I do have a smidgeon of sympathy for The Badger. After all, he was given this position (and a large shovel) by the big clunking fist with the sole aim of clearing up the piles of dung strewn behind him. An almost impossible task I might add...

His seat is not at all safe. The Scottish Parliament seat which most closely matches his is occupied by David McLetchie, a Tory; and it was Malcolm Rifkind's seat before 1997.

Badger will always have a safe seat on Gordon's one-eyed monster. The one below the neck.
