Dont care if this gets pulled

Wales Online: Cold spell kills off vulnerable pensioners

More bad weather heading our way......if you have any elderly or vunerable people living close who are alone please check on them.....your neighbours may be very frightened and cold at night....a little effort could mean life or death to them.....enough talk of a utopian world time to put things to action....even if they tell you f##k off it doesnt matter...what matters is the cold is fine when your young and healthy but its very scary for those who are not.

A mighty appeal Titan....... You know how frightened some people are of the energy bills they cannot afford and how their very dignity obliges them to suffer or even die while the relentless pursuit of profit is practised.

You're a man to admire, TC. One would think with all the carping these days about working and contributing that having a job most of one's life might reasonably lead to security in one's retirement. Clearly not. It doesn't even apply to those still working. In fact the majority of those living below the poverty line in the UK have jobs. In the US, 40% of those served in soup kitchens have jobs. A fifth of the homeless in the US have jobs. What a great society we live in.

@Plato
They would leave the heating off to save the money for a grandchild' birthday or some treat for when they visited.......I know this to be true from when I used to work with the elderly........yes they suffer in silence.....the old saying charity begins at home....well here it is

TC these are shocking figures and relevant to the topic how crazy this country has become.
My gas bill last quarter was 335 quid, which fortunately I can afford, even with the cr*p rates of bank interest we get now, but can't help thinking how would someone manage that on the old age pension?

Good post titaniccaptain.

For all our technological advances, one of the richest societies in the world is unable to provide a base level of existence for those who need it most. Progress my a**e!

The Grinning Gargoyle CEO of British Gas was on the news the other day. BG increased prices throughout 2006-2007-2008, stating the reason as being rising wholesale prices.
They increased the average bill by 35% Last Year.
Then in 2007 British Gas posted a 600% + increase in profits. I hate them. And the government which allows it to happen.

They have been getting Gas basically for free, for the last one year, yet have said they cannot pass that saving onto the consumer, until after our winter bills. Which for most of us have arrived recently.
Then, they say they will reduce the bills by 10%.

I truly hate BG with a passion. I sent them an email last year asking how it felt to have the blood of elderly and vulnerable people on their hands, for the sake of lies and greed.

Someone walking into their boardroom with a machine gun would be justified in my opinion.
