Things are selling up here, but very slowly, and only the properties that have become reasonably priced (ie. 20% off 2007 stupid levels). What is not clear so far is the actual sale prices. A few months will reveal all. Many people can still afford to be greedy.
The big solicitors firms are still shelling jobs. They are starting to be a little less aggressive to me when I enquire about putting in low offers. But the superior tone is still there.

It will probably still be there when they are selling apples in the street.

The comments say it all - especially calling estate agents "experts".
Am so sick of agents up here crowing that Scotland's property market is "performing" better than England's, as if HPI was a good thing.
Not to mention the stupid assumption that that means we'll get off light, it's probably just that Scotland is behind England with HPC due to entrenched northern attitudes.
Inflation is...I know what you mean about superior attitudes - like many bank staff used to have. In fact I complained to my bank manager a few years ago about his staff getting uppity with me and he gave them a telling off. Have to say that the HBOS phone banking people can't be subservient enough since their shareprice bombed.
