NAEA calls for effective market reform

mortgagestrategy: NAEA calls for effective market reform

Peter Bolton King, chief executive of the National Association of Estate Agents, says: “For years, the National Association of Estate Agents has been calling for an appropriate level of regulation to be introduced as mandatory in the UK housing market.
“I would like to reassure all of the hardworking and reputable estate agents in the industry, as well as the thousands of people considering getting onto the property ladder, that the NAEA will fight to ensure that any reform to the industry is effective." "hardworking and reputable" ??????

"the NAEA will fight to ensure that any reform to the industry is effective"

Interesting use of words there. Hmm. According to the NAEA's sole definition of effective. If someone questions the effectiveness of NAEA's proposals, they are saying that they'll fight them too.

"You see this feature here, this is a Norman arch, its named after Sir Norman Lamont who used to be the Chancellor of the Exchequer of this country - that's really rather exciting, isn't it ... ?"

Hardworking and reputable? Undoubtedly ...

What they really mean is they want to stifle competition in the future IMO.

Will it prevent outright fraud and bandit behaviour when it suits - Very unlikely.
There is far too much money to be made by being dishonest in property.

troy, can you elaborate? Are you trying to say that myself and Martin are one person? Who also has a connection with the issue and an interest which is undeclared? Or have I missed something?
