Scotsman: HBOS rewards 100 branch managers with New York trip
STRICKEN bank HBOS is to fly 100 branch managers and their partners to New York to reward their performance during a year that has seen it plunge to the brink of collapse, it emerged today.

It has always be the mantra in banks to create various profit centres rewarding staff for their performance independantly from from the overall performance of the bank. Until institutional shareholders challenge that practice, they ll be the one paying the price for such non sense.

must be the only industry in the world where poor performance is rewarded. It's a bit like the public sector where you can be fired and walk away with a full pension pot.
