BREAKING NEWS: Insane buyer found for brooky close.

liverpool echo: Jimmy Corkhill actor: I'll buy Brookside

The 53-year-old today told of his plans to raise around £600,000 for the available houses.
The actor who played bad boy Jimmy Corkhill said he might transform the 13-house close into a tourist attraction.
Because of the credit crunch the asking price for Brookside Close in West Derby has fallen from £2.4m to £600,000.

Brookside creator Phil Redmond paid £25,000 per house in 1982.

Developers bought the properties in 2005. All 13 were refurbished and it was hoped they could go for £300,000 each.


LOL, now they are £600,000 for all 13.

£600,000 is the "guide price", not the asking price. I think they've deliberately set the price low to drum up lots of interest. It's a common trick for auction houses.

A quick check on Rightmove reveals nearby 3-bed and 4-bed detatched houses typically on offer around £220,000. Hard to believe in Liverpool....

Seem to be conflicting reports, some saying the houses were recently refurbished, others saying that they had been trashed and were in need of renovation. I'm not sure it's clear at all that the houses are in good nick, ready to sell for top whack (otherwise surely these mystery developers would have put them on the market before now).
