Note at the end of the article - "But what will never be the case, as the cabby joked, is that mortgages will be impossible to get" - there is an old saying "never say never" after all who would have thought AIG the giant US insurer along with Lehmans, Northern Rock, B&B, the Icelandic Banks, Enron, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, Excel Airways (this list could run off the page) would go under !

what about self certs for people with 25% deposits with good credit? I was talking to a guy today who could not find anyone who would lend, i did ask why he wanted to buy, he seemed to think now was a good time..lol

When did they stop being a news website and start taking on guest commentary columns from random VIs?

As Phil and Krusty said yesterday is what you pay today will be cheaper tomorrow and the day after and the day after. To us we call it deflation. Well why buying today then Phil and Krusty ? Cos the property market is DIFFERENT and it makes sense to buy for the long term as property will always go up cos England is a small island and guess what, there will always be demand for property. Yeah yeah.....So property prices going DOWN in the property jargon is called INFLATION.....cos Phil and Krusty say so and you know that they are property experts.Yeah yeah.Just look at Germany, just look at Japan, property market has not gone up in the long term, it has gone DOWN. Yeah yeah but the UK is DIFFERENT. Yeah yeah. Thanks Phil and Krusty and all the VIs.

Good afternooon guys and girls
First post and I have a question that I hope you can help me with.
Can you get mortgages currently with 10-15% deposit or equity ?
If so at what rate ?
Do you think this will improve in the medium term ie by May 2009
Many thanks
