Threat to 600 jobs at factories

BBC wales: Threat to 600 jobs at factories

Cosmetics factory Budelpack International COSi at Maesteg, which employs nearly 400 people, has gone into administration.
Last month the plant, which makes brands such as Clinique and Body Shop, cut its workforce by more than 200, blaming a sales slump.

Unfortunately, like designer bling and costalot coffees - posh scent, and big brand name toiletries are a little luxury we can all do without...now that all the shops are well stocked for the Christmas bingefest...with product manufactured and shipped during the summer / autumn, the pinch off in demand will come early as product buyers will be projecting for poor sales next year.....so bye bye jobs in Maesteg.

Now didn't that guy Jim Moore of one time property club 'Inside Track' once do dodgy copy perfumes called L'Arome? Maybe he could start up the old business again that was so successful in the last downturn.

Tough times ahead for Maesteg, my home town.
This is the last sizeable employer in the town, which was blighted by the closure of the collieries in the 80's and recent downsizing of the nearby Sony plant.
God knows what future it's got, especially if Ford and Corus continue to struggle.
