The current situation, neatly summed up

BusinessWeek: Key Questions From the G-20 Summit

There are five fundamental questions that went unanswered at this past weekend's G-20 summit in Washington. In their attempt to show solidarity, the world leaders skipped over the complicated and contentious questions. But that's no long-term solution. Once they go home to their respective capitals, the finance ministers and other officials who met in Washington are going to be forced to make some tough decisions. Here are five puzzlers that will demand to be sorted out in the months ahead:

Good post Garden.......

Been thinking about about this 'protectionism' a lot........ and the more I think about it the more unavoidable it is. In fact there has been nothing but protectionism. They mean individual protectionism, but then who could go it alone anyway? Or do they mean: You do what I say because I've got bigger bombs! I think the latter is the probability.

Prices of homes?
Let's not beat about the Bush here. Why does anyone want their home to cost a lot?.... Stupid thinking about the basic need in a civilised society......... I cannot describe what an utterly stupid and socially/economically damaging concept this is!........
I am a property owner and am quite prepared to see it fall to a healthy price. the young would have a chance and I could move if I wanted to.
I could improve my wealth through working or a myriad of other opportunities, depending on my talent.......... But I would have a nice little home to protect me and rest in without worrying I'm going to get chucked out because it's so expensive I can't pay for it.
It is absolutely essential that prices decline to an affordable level for all our sakes.

The rest? Well I'll leave that to the 'clever' ones. All I ask is for wise decisions and less greed.

Why the F$£$£ing hell weren't these meetings televised. Im sick to freaking death of them making global policy via closed committee and media leaks. We should be protesting on the bloody streets, but no.

But on the good side, they clearly couldn't agree on anything, because they just agreed to further discussions, however, they may well have just decided on a shape for global governance. Where we asked? Was there a referendum? We get a vote if local council structure changes, but global governance? And, by the way, there should no be such a thing.
