The Black Swan is good for the points Taleb makes and the thoughts they provoke, but he stretches the thing out by repeating himself a number of times and he's a tad self-congratulatory as well.

Not to mention that he is really stating the obvious, of course our understanding of the world is based on post fact rationalisation who would think otherwise and since when was the unpredicatablity of the future a surprise. His theory seems to be the only thing predictable about the future is its unpredicatabilty (and because Taleb saw that he profited) - except when its predicatable which it sometimes is. Good title tho.

I dont know if i am a bit on the dense side, but i found the book incredible condescending and over intellectual and while perhaps not that difficult to follow, difficult enough that my admittedly short attention span was prone to meandering. But maybe thats just me!

Irrationality by Stuart Sutherland is a much better read.
