Obama; "We'll put people back to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, modernizing schools that are failing our children, and building wind farms and solar panels". Gordon; I'll cut VAT for XMAS - D'Oh.

Do those jobs include his proposed million strong tattle tale brigade? Or the unemployed he wants to work in environmental jobs, to enforce carbon tax on people, fart tax on animals? No government produces any jobs that actually grow the economy.

P4C - you're right, govt jobs don't grow the economy but so what? Economies can't keep growing indefinitely can they? It seems to me that people will have to adjust to a world which is stable, not growing, at some point. I think this is a good opportunity to do that - a bit of austerity never hurt anyone. In fact, the nation was healthiest during food rationing.
