Indian Express: Indian BPOs bring Christmas jobs cheer to UK
Christmas in 2008 could have been the gloomiest in UK in recent decades but for Indian companies, which are coming to the rescue of Britons, facing lay-offs in the face of a looming global recession.
This week, Indian call centre major Firstsource sparked early Christmas cheer in Northern Ireland by announcing plans to create 160 more jobs in the region.

India had always recognised that the call centre thing would last 15-20 years at best. They thought that the subsequent increase in their own standard of living would drive the agenda, not the collapse of our economy.

LOL! soon M&S will bring their manufacturing back to the UK. Already (speaking to friends who have things made out in the Far East) their costs have shot up by 30% in the last 3 months as Gordon Brown and the BoE disembowel Sterling.

This is classic news. It is almost worth getting a job at one of these UK Indian call centers… Revenge for the HOURS I have spent trying to make myself understood.
