Leave the whisky alone Darling!
BBC News: Darling admits whisky duty error
The chancellor has admitted to MPs that he made a mistake in raising duty on Scotch whisky, which would have led to a 29p rise in the price of a bottle.
Alistair Darling caused an inadvertent storm with his proposals to offset the cut in VAT by raising duty on spirits.

They will want a hike in Whisky tax to avoid it becoming the defacto currency during hyperinflation. But, can't avoid the black market. Its even harder to create whisky fast, than to print gold, because a good malt takes 10yrs to mature, so, it becomes the currency of choice during hard times.
