secret police (uncountable) (often treated as a plural)

1. A police force operating in secrecy and outside the normal boundaries of law, usually in support of a totalitarian government to suppress political dissent from an opposition party.

Quite right too.
Our Glorious Leader is doing "all it takes" to repair the damage the previous chancellor did to the economy and is acting in the national interest. Any criticism of our Glorious Leader is therefore against the national interest and, ipso facto, an act or terrorism.
There is nothing unreasonable about this as shown by other enlightened states such as Burma, Zimbabwe and China.
Hail to Our Glorious Leader and death to all intellectuals and bourgiouse

NINE ANTI TERRORIST OFFICERS used to interFEAR with an MP's right to inform the people of misconduct, aprehended for suspected misconduct !!!!!! ?

this must be the collapse of the evolution of consciousness before it bares fruit.

malct,

I am amused by the house price varnish you attached the title of this otherwise wildly off-topic posting. That said, here is a link to another story concerning the same law and bully boy tactics:

I'm glad to see the judge make the right choice in the above but the police seem to be getting out of control in some respects.

Haven't we had this story today already as well?

The police do seem to be turning into a rather unpleasant version of the keystone cops. A lethal combination of incompetence, para-military power and third-rate intelligence (sic). Lliterally lethal in the case of de menezes.

quiet guy - thank you - entertainment is everything

seriously it's the same lack of eye on the ball that caused a house price boom dragging people and their country into unsustainable debt causing the meltdown we are now going through bit by bit.

This website is very tolerant (for now) of freedom of speech and action. I hope it lasts.

A government that clamps down outside the law on critisism is dangerous - we have such a government.

quite so, thank you - it seems 'our' police are being hijacked by government, I know from direct contact some police officers feel the same.

But this is HPC.co.uk and I forsee a scenario whereby someone could end up being tasered for not handing over the keys to their home.

dots join up - jigsaw pieces - picture, see it all.

Quite a sinister event and likely to have been sanctioned.
This is a quote from The Times: 'Sources close to the Shadow Cabinet suggested that the timing could not have been coincidental and said the decision to arrest such a senior politician would have been cleared "at the very top".

The point is that there is an unelected leader heading the government who should not want to be seen as dictatorial with an election coming up, raising the obvious question of : What will happen if we elect this person?
He either has extremely bad advisors or extremely bad enemies within.
