Daily Telegraph: Gordon Brown vows to keep recession short

Gordon Brown has promised to do everything possible to ensure that the recession is as short as possible.
Mr Brown told the Confederation of British Industry annual conference: "Simply letting the recession run its course, to say there is no alternative, is not an option.
"To fail to act now would be not only a failure of economic policy but a failure of leadership.
