Food Riots in America will Cause UK House Prices to Rise

Sorry I can't Remember, it's my age: Celente Predicts Revolution, Food Riots, Tax Rebellions By 2012

The man who predicted the 1987 stock market crash and the fall of the Soviet Union is now forecasting revolution in America, food riots and tax rebellions - all within four years, while cautioning that putting food on the table will be a more pressing concern than buying Christmas gifts by 2012.
Gerald Celente, the CEO of Trends Research Institute, is renowned for his accuracy in predicting future world and economic events, which will send a chill down your spine considering what he told Fox News this week.
Celente says that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts.

Oh, add to that Obama asking United Nations troops in and there being a civil war. FIMA camps getting into operation. Gun sales at all time records now in the USA. They are coming.

Predictions aren't news, not really sure this belongs on here.

p4ac: Gun sales are at record highs because people are worried that the Democrats will ban private gun ownership; not because people expect gun warfare in Walmart.

Revolution in America, food riots and tax rebellions
Britain already had two out of three: Poll Tax Riots, anyone? Also there was a huge rise in squatters after World War II: all the soldiers came back from the war and wanted to settle down all at once. This caused a huge wave of sudden housing demand which the normal market couldn't satisfy. There was a recent (BBC?) documentary on the subject.
As for the food riots, we already saw Pasta Protests in Italy earlier this year. Mexicans were getting pretty angry about the price of corn too. Depends on your definition of "riot".

Mr Celente's prediction is far too vague. It's like Joe Biden's "something big will happen sometime somewhere".

CEO of trends research institute? Right, so what about all the trends he got wrong? Has he been statistically more accurate than an average bloke off the street guessing? Because if he isn't, then he's just a bullsh*tter, like many 'experts' with track records no better than pure chance.

OK, this might sound 'far out' but sod it, I'll say it anyway because my thoughts are flowing right now and its been running through my head today at work (partly helped by a book I've been reading on Marx among other things. Oxfords Marx a very short introduction - very interesting!) Plus it might stir someone elses thoughts somewhere?

Anyway, for what its worth,

I'm really starting to wonder whether S2R1 is in some vague way onto something. A shift of consciousness could indeed be on the cards (and it needs to be LOL!). The internet and the general level of education are sufficient for most people to become aware of new ideas and bring about real change. It would take some time as new/scary/big ideas take an open, critical and intuative mind as well as effort and a while to digest but its more than possible. Overcoming our ego's and childish tendancies is one aspect. Finding some kind of affinity and overcoming of alienation from each other and nature might be another (see Hegelian philosophy (also while your there check out phenominology of Mind for parallels with S2R1's general ideas of a purpose to history involving Calleman/Lungold, Terence Mckennas Timewave Zero, Elloit, Kondratieff and Martin Armstrongs stuff (if a predictable purpose to history/evolution could be in some way proven it would upset a lot of egotistical people IMO))). Further more, the realisation of the true nature, contradictions and consequences of capitalism, greed, the desire for profit and power and so on could finally drive people to reject it all, stop cooperating and empower themselves. Self understandind and knowledge of crowd/group psychology takes away many of the tools of power.

If people can overcome fear and the desires of their ego's through increased understanding and an better reason for being/foundational model from which to conduct life (as opposed to survival of the fittest or scary religions), the power of those who rule would be gone, along with many of our problems. Perhaps even with little physical effort, cost or violence.

A general outline of my approach to life goes something like this: Start from the old favourite 'i think therefore I am' (everything else potentially being fallible) and realise that you know nothing for sure. It is impossible to know truth in this life (as far as I can make out) - it comes down to trust or faith. So after considering that there might be no purpose to life whatsoever - nothing else just a fluke (rendering everything we think, say do and value completely pointless) you have to go with the conclusion that there is more to your life than making money, having endless, shallow fun and reproducing - that you do indeed have a purpose and that this all might be a test/learning, growing or evolutionary exercise or whatever adds up for you. From that standpoint you can treat life like a ride - not taking it *too* seriously, just sincerely (deep down, in the back of your mind) and if we can do that we can get there, surely. If your afraid of losing something its not really worth having in the first place.

If this really does kick off then the only real way to avoid complete chaos is for the majority to understand themselves and have faith in 'something more' and to overcome fear and master desire. Dissemination of information and will is all it takes.

All comments, additions, derision etc most welcome.

Right I'm off to have a few bevs.

The problem with prescribing shifts in conciousness is that they are incredibly difficult to achieve a bit like winning an olympic mdeal say, and out of reach for most of us. Without being cruel about it, obviously people who bang on most about it are like jevohah witnesses at the door and as far from any notion of insight as is imaginable. Whatever "it" is it will only be discoverable via an internal route and will have nothing to do with preaching.

I think your right. Life is what you make of it. Sadly, people are heavily influenced by trends and consensus so are easily manipulated.

Lots of people predict lots of things, we forget the ones who were wrong and hail as messiahs the ones that got lucky. I'm sure there's a term for it. This is the time to stick your neck out and make a 'big' prediction - it could make you a fortune in book sales in a wee while. If it doesn't work, hey ho, try again.

Belweather - agreed, but difficult is not the word, but it is the trend, and we will see what is out of reach. Maybe you'll be suprised? I Hope so :)

LOL quiet guy you saw it too... but Bill Hicks wasn't the first to say that. Take what rings true (or connect the dots if you like LOL), thats my approach - "A man can only attain knowledge with the help of those who possess it. This must be understood from the very beginning. One must learn from him who knows"... No?
Under this barrage of information, what can we really profess to understand about this world we call 'ours' ?

Shipbuilder, not quite sure what you mean, but agreed, there is potentially many a fortune to be made out of all this, and 'they' are welcome to it... what does it count for?? In my honest opinion - Marx aside, money and capital infects and ruins everything... great idea but it takes us way from reality and corrupts all that is meaningful... IMHO - as it stands.

Food for someones thought... beyond my sneaky ego... thats my intention... If anyone checks back - LOL, all comments appreciated, been a funny day, and one too many bevs I think, time for bed!
