Do these employ anyone in the UK?

bbc: Sun Micro to cut up to 6,000 jobs

The computer hardware maker Sun Microsystems has announced it will shed up to 6,000 jobs in a bid to cut costs.

Yes - I have a friend who sells their systems to large corporates here in the UK but I don't know whether any of there job losseas are actually
in the UK

Yes. They have locations in Camberley, Coventry, Leeds, Linlithgow, London and Manchester.

I used to live near their offices in Coventry - I applied to work for them many years ago and they said that they didn't have a recruitement centre in the UK.

I used to work for them designing fault tolerant telecommunication systems. I left over ten years ago, a friend of my stayed and was laid off over 4 years ago, I don;t think they have any engineering intellect left in the UK. Shame as they were a good company.

Sun actually produce a lot of software as well as hardware. They also have extensive training programes for professionals such as Java certification
