Anne Ashworth’s pantomime

The Pre-Budget Panto

"The Bank, or so it is said, would prefer that the banks devoted their cash to small businesses, rather than supporting house prices that are now more affordable for first-time buyers" "The Chancellor did little else to bolster the housing market, neither ensuring that more struggling borrowers are saved from repossession, nor introducing new concessions for first-time buyers" these clowns did enough to inflate the BTL bubble. Anne, she is the pantomime village i@iot

  • Ms Ashworth is like a spoilt little brat who has been told she can have no more sweeties because she has had far too many over the last 10 years or so, but her aquaintance Mr Small Business can have some more, as he didn’t take the p*ss and take more than was affordable or prudent over the last ten years and if anything he has actually tried to put something back into society rather than drive a great big stake through the heart of the country, disenfranchising a whole generation. If that all sounded like an annoyed rant it was. How dare she say that prices are now more affordable for first time buyers and then swiftly follow it by saying that only those lucky enough to have generous parents and not need a mortgage could take advantage of this remarkable new affordability. She is the very pinnacle of VI-leness.

  • Even the dimmest reader can see she is “talking up” property.

I guess she has to do this otherwise all those expensive property ads will get placed in another paper…

    Sad really…

  • I imagine she is pretty heavily invested in housing, along with many of her colleagues. As they have written articles on rising house prices these past years I would guess they decided it was a good way to make money. Now they are reduced to shameless attempts to pump the market again. Their efforts will be hopeless, much like the quality of their journalism now.
