renting2 and I had a little exchange yesterday (in agreement) that our 'bankers' will say that they won't be able to compete unless the UK government bailout is as generous (read 'thieving') as the US one. It's worth re-iterating here: there will be a race for governments to ensure that their banking 'systems' are competitive and able to attract the best 'talent' on a 'global' basis (forget that they are supposed to be putting global systems in place to ensure that this kind of competition doesn't happen) and that therefore you need big bonuses for execs and dividends for shareholders.
If this Grauniad story doesn't make clear the nature of banking (a mob activity, with JP Morgan/Goldman Sucks as the capo di tutti i capi) then I don't what does.

If this truly is talent why hasn't HM treasury got an ad on here? Certainly don't need more idiots who understand CDO's we need people who have the cohjones to say "Er that looks like creating money out of thin air, it didn't work for Enron so why will it work now" to the banking industry and regulate it.
