bbc: Carmakers fear hard times ahead
Carmakers have forecast a tough year ahead, as the financial crisis takes its toll on the car industry.
Italian carmaker Fiat said in a worst-case scenario its 2009 profits could fall by 65%, while global demand for its products could drop 10 to 20%.

Smart cars are selling well. Up 50% this year.
Perhaps the car manufacturers will stop trying to please the Jeremy Clarkson types and give us cars that are cheap to buy, cheap to run and cheap to service.
As far as I am concerned Porsche, all luxury 4x4 manufacturers and BMW can go to the wall. They wont be missed and our fossil fuels might still be there for our children.

We will meet the carbon emissions very easily and earlier than thought. Back to the horse and cart for everyone!
