Cheesy, vacuous - and occasionally brilliant, this was indeed the speech of Gordon Brown's life ... this was the product of desperation, it's tactics a measure of how bad things have got and how far the PM is willing to go to cling to power.

I managed about 5 minutes of the speech. The truly gut wrenching sycophants clapping like clock-work monkeys was all to much for me. Labour as long since forgotten it's roots. Brown should be ashamed to pretend otherwise.

"Sarah Brown gives Labour the Kiss of Life" ran in a number of newspapers today. The speech was all about Brown - fair enough. Who trusts his policies any longer?

When he started to bang on about losing the sight in his eye and then about maybe losing the sight in his other eye, I had to try hard not to bring up my lunch. The next thing I'm expecting is a summit of trade union leaders in the cabinet office with bear and sandwiches on the menu! The clapping of the assembled trained monkeys was simply the last Hurrah of the labour luvvies before the disastor that awaits us as the econmy folds in on itself.
This man is nothing other than a 2nd rate actor in a 2nd rate play.
I seriously think that history is going to know him by one, and one name only Crash Gordon the prime minister who, as chancellor, presided over the boom and as Prime Minister kept banging on about "sound fundementals" as the country was brought to it's knees by his arrogant belief that he alone can save us (Crash, a-haaaaa, Master of the Universe !)
