Both Merryn and Ron Paul have credit because they saw this coming and argued against damaging trends for years. I personally think inaction would be good in some ways because it punishes the financial system, but inaction also punishes the rest of the economy which did not do anything wrong.

Flatulence has been the pre-occupation of most BTLers and Media types for the last 10 years. What's that noise? No worries, just another BTler!

It doesn't take a lot of legislation to sort the whole house price boom and bust cycle out - do as Merryn suggests, also maximise mortgages to 3.5x verified salary and 10% deposit, and add Land Value Tax in for good measure (as detailed by Mark Wadsworth)....now can I collect my housing minister salary and snout in the trough pension please !!!!!!!!!!!
