Have a look at what the news media DIDN'T show you!

Hub pages: Protests on Wall Street - what the news media isn't showing you64

Protests took place on Wall St. to protest the bail out plan - and the mainstream news media didn't even mention it
Hundreds of protestors demonstrated agains the proposed $700 Billion bail out plan for the finance and banking industry, yet the national news media in America didn't even report it! Why not? It seems strange that this barely generated a gander from the big news outlets like ABC, CNN, CBS, NBC etc. all of whom have a presence in New York City.

I never buy mainstream newspapers. Why wasting your money being pushed with tons of rubbish? We just refer to their info thru the web version. Frankly I only believe less than half of them. But we can see what those who control the media want us to believe, which in itself a valuable info. Than's all.

It seems to have been part of a series of US-wide protests - there seems like a fair amount of coverage in local US news sources.

See www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/100370/breaking:_photos_from_the_wall_street_bail_out_protest/

I guess the 'grown up media' are too busy digesting the bailout fine print to bother wondering what the populus is up to! It is nice to see that in the age of the internet we can see past the headlines.....corporate america sux!

Found truthseeker some time ago whilst looking for the truth coincidentally.. They publish some very good articles.
The whole point is to get your news from as many sources as possible -- then form opinions. Actually in general you get the same news mainstream and after a while you can tell you are often being 'fed' regarding important matters, So there's not a great deal of reading there. Another source I use is news in English from foreign editions. These often have that little bit extra detail/unknown facts.
Used to get them delivered when I had a house in the UK ------- Oooops! Did I mention House?

plato - yes I love England, despite the morons who rule our lives - perhaps that's why they get away with it?

when you come back, things will change

those of us who are aware / awake balance out hundreds and thousands of sleepers

so I'm told.

If it's not too personal a question on this open blog, where are you now?

and how do other ex pats relate to the UK?

Right now I'm in Cyprus soaking up the rain (yes rain). How I missed rain!
Ex-pats? That's a biggy. I would say All I meet are disillusioned with the UK. What it has become. Where they envisage it is going. Sick of
the control, injustice and sheer expense. Worried about security in their latter years and in many cases worred about being able to afford the cost of living.and their health. Of course you can only love such a wonderful Country and this life is a great sacrifice for many in reality.
You know the saying : 'Your home is where...............'
The sad thing is : A lot of these are good people forced out of their own homeland taking their tradtion and culture with them to be lost forever. A great crime is being commited when you alienate your own people. Start thinking Politicians!!!!

Look at some Noam Chomsky. Particularly on the media. Go to his web site. You won't of course.

I am currently endeavouring to do so, malct - funnily enough, someone mentioned the book to the other day - on order as we speak. Currently reading 'What Liberal Media?', which is a cracking insight into the way the media in the US works and how it is influenced. Also reading 'Guns, Germs and Steel', also highly recommended.
I'm always willing to learn about other viewpoints - it's how my own has been formed. However, i'm always cautious about taking anything I read as a bible, so to speak.

Moved away last year out of sheer frustration with the house prices, taxes, lousy medical care and lifestyle fraught with equal measure of out of control crime and big brother mentality. Left everyone and everything behind, which we discuss every day. Loads of expats here in France of course. Major topic of continual interest: would you/could you go back? Most agree not - not for lots of reasons of reduced lifestyle, and for the most part not for lack of money. The flip in the exchange rate in Dec/Jan hit us like a ton of bricks, reducing our income even here by 15% approx. There is no relief I'm afraid. But then perhaps just a dry-run-up to the real thing as Bush fails to re-cook the books and it all goes into a death spiral. As said above by someone, hoping for the best from the flora and fauna, bought a property with a bit of land and a well. We planted pumkins under the corn and have lots of great soup if you're over this way.

Political Ponerology - Wow. now we really are through the looking glass people - and I mean that in a good way. Shippy - I'd be very interested in your opinion once you have read it (will check out your recommendation too).
@Plato / Malct - well I was in Oz from '01 - '05 and wouldn't have come back, but ultimately I wanted a front row seat, and haven't been disappointed so far - careful what ya wish for eh?!!
Back to the article - so it has been reported in Reuters, hmm, interesting. With all of those KBR 'detention' centres around the US with their mandate to maintain order - could this be the event? Probably not, but the pressure is really building now, just as the psychos knowingly or unknowingly intended.

Lots of websites are kicking against the bail-out. Have a look at some of the comments to CNN webpages. CNN, of course, support the President (what else).

Politicians know where their future votes lie - nobody wants to put their name to this bill unless they have been arm twisted, bribed or are stoopid!
