When the Government nationalise properties in the UK, it is for the betterment of society & future generations.
BBC: Seized properties shame Poland
Trust the BBC to come up with a bias towards "the crime" of not compensating property nationalised by the state. A VI story if ever saw one!. I'm so glad I don't have to pay my TV Licence (as I don't have a TV). The BBC are pure hypocrits!!! Since communism ended in Poland almost 20 years ago, the country has come a long way, embracing the future as a member of both the EU and Nato.
This grand Warsaw building belonged to Piotr's family. But in the eyes of many Poles the historical legacy of property claims blights its onward march.

Property ownership is a concept enforced by central government. Effectively the land belongs to those with the most arms. The old government of Poland no longer exists to enforce those property rights. It is hard luck but get over it. The same thing has been happening since the Neanderthals got their asses kicked by Rift Valley man after the last ice age.
Land should probably be a common resource and leased by those who can make best use of it... however that is defined.
The impression I got from the story was that the Poles would like to see the claims settled. They are probably lucky not to still be under the Nazi or Soviet jackboot.

@ David, no. this the natural reaction of the "free market".. thus caalled "greed".. we have, or most have had the luxury of playing monopoly at home.. David, my great great grandfather was Jewish, I have met British Jews and they are some of the most rascist people I have ever met.. The chosen ones.. Because of the matriarchal structure. I am a Catholic, with jewish influence.. if it is good enough for Isaerl "The Land" it is good enough for the "Brits". When the financial collapse occurs, the ventian system which is jewish in origin, maybe the world can live in peace, a better world. Incidentally, my late landlord was a British Jew, and robbed me for £400. I respect judaism, but not the rascist doctrine, which lies behind the religion. In israel, the housing built belongs to the state. And thankfully, the financial structure of bs, will fall to the way side.. As in judaism, like Islam, a Jew should not lend for profit. Funny That..but True!!

If they owned the property all this time thats a big council tax bill, a big inheritance tax bill not to mention all the maintenance and repair bills for the last 70 years. Porbably a lot more than the property is worth. But hey I suppose the property has sentimental value.
