The proverbial "rats" are leaving the sinking ship

BBC: Migration to the UK falls sharply

The number of Eastern European migrants coming to work in the UK has fallen to its lowest level since EU expansion in 2004, Home Office figures show.

What a load of tosh, who would want to come to this hell hole anyway. They've tried and now they are fleeing in droves, we need tighter boarders to keep them here, and maybe remove some of the lazy natives.

What's there to get upset about? By its very nature, economic migration is going to work both ways: it's how people go where the jobs are.

The migration is more in than out, though - 200,000 more. It's just that less of them are from Eastern Europe. Immigrants are also responsible for most of the natural population increase in the UK

The situation in Ireland is similar: population is still growing, since there's been something of a baby boom in the last decade. (http://www.finfacts.ie/irishfinancenews/article_1014491.shtml)

(I was an economic migrant from the UK to Ireland, after a US IT company offered me a job here, so I can hardly complain! I'm still here, but now at university, where there are no fees yet.)

renting2,

The indigenous population with loot has seen a net outward migration for several years now I believe. See this article:

BBC News: Record number of people leave UK (August 2007)
Of those who left the UK last year, 196,000 were British citizens while 189,000 were "long-term migrants" who had been living in the UK for more than a year. The majority of [the latter] are people who came in from Eastern European countries after May 2004.
