Everything is fine because we say so

guardian.co.uk: City sceptical on retail sales figures

Office for Notional Statistics doing a great job for the Ministry of Truth again. In a similar way I wonder if the Land Registry numbers will show that property is achieveing that soft landing/levelling out after all.

All this Ministry of Truth stuff...To be Fair the ONS have decided things recently that the Govt wouldn't like, for example, on borrowing stats which means Darling is going to have to be straight about going over the so called 'golden rule' limits which is embarrassing as Brown made great capital out of keeping within such limits. Did the thumbscrews not work while that was going on ?

The ONS is independent but the problems start when Govt Minister's spin the figures and the lap dog media repeat it without proper scrutiny or challenge..

Well I went into Currys yesterday to buy a camcorder, met up with a friend whos the deputy manager of the branch. he said business was f******g bad - to use the exact words.
He also said that Currys is currently losing £1Million pounds a day ( he might of said week but Im fairly sure he said a day ).

The new car sales in all the garages I deal with have dived and garage closed.

Did the ONS have any part with counting the number of banned weapons in Iraq before the war was started? ....... probably .....
