Market Oracle: Market Oracle unavailable following a sustained hacking attack

Not a post as such but thought this was interesting since lots of people read this site. "The Market Oracle website is temporarily unavailable following a sustained hacking attack on the 23rd and 24th of August 2008, which follows a series of articles on the Russia / Georgia Conflict - We hope to resume a normal service as soon as possible."

interesting point mg

I've had problems here with articles or comments inclding the words russia and economy which I thought were valid.

There seems to be a particular sensitivity.

on the other hand, we have previously debated the issue that we (all of us posting here) have no idea of the real ID of other posters.

Often it has seemed some of us are part of one interest group or another.

Now the Guardian newspaper has come up with a clue.

Revealed: Britain's secret propaganda war against al-Qaida - BBC and website forums targeted by Home Office unit

A Whitehall counter-terrorism unit is targeting the BBC and other media organisations as part of a new global propaganda push designed to "taint the al-Qaida brand", according to a secret Home Office paper seen by the Guardian.

The document also shows that Whitehall counter-terrorism experts intend to exploit new media websites and outlets with a proposal to "channel messages through volunteers in internet forums" as part of their campaign.

If one subject, why not others?

If one org, why not others?

Funny thought that, govnmint into 'channelling' whatever next? - legalising crop circles perhaps!
