Krustie fights back!!!

Times: Don't blame me for the property crash

In recent weeks I've been described as a “property porn queen” in the New Statesman, sniped at on the pages of The Guardian and lambasted by Panorama for excessively inflating house prices.
I only wish that the show I present was as influential as some have been claiming.
It's plain silly to point the finger at these programmes for puffing up the property market, forcing people into taking out massive mortgages or into negative equity. Blaming such shows and their presenters for the present uncertain state of the property market is akin to blaming TV chefs for the great bulge in obesity.

"Some of the recent gloomy headlines make me suspect that all the journalists in the country have sold up and are doing everything in their power to cause a property house price crash so that they can buy at rock bottom".

NO Kirsty.

IMHO, people are pointing fingers at the root causes of the HPC because a lot of people will take the pain. Government policies are a big cause, followed by a desire to emulate the celebs and their lifestyle. Even the Pope has been criticising rampant materialism, and the worship of "things". (No, I'm not Roman Catholic before anyone asks).

Left my droppings.

The joke is she is going to be utterly roasted. She is the goat. But she is right, it is mildly unfair because it was really Greenspan and his banker buddies across the world who are to blame. She is a bit like and EA, saw the chance and piled in. Unfortunately she is left carrying the can. Poetic justice.

The VI propaganda propagated by shows like 'Location, Location, Location' has clearly helped to fan the flames of the housing market. Every week Krusty and Philth would be glamourising the business of house buying, showing the great British public how easy it was to get what you want and inadvertently showing how easy it was to make loadsamoney doing so. I don't recall much advice regarding financial prudence or considerations that property prices can go down as well as up. Infact quite the opposite because as we all know, Krusty bet her hat they wouldn't go down.

Well, the market has turned in spectacular style and thus Krusty and Philth are now looking dumb and dumber with each passing week. They rode the wave of house price inflation and will have made a very good living from it too. Had they shown a bit more integrity whilst prices were going up many people would have, I believe, given them the benefit of the doubt. Sadly they just seemed to revel in being the poster children for the House Price Inflation Generation.

Hoisted on their own petard!

Time for Kirsty to make another appearance as a guest on BBC Question Time where David Dimbleby should encourage her to "Eat her Hat" - we now have irrefutable evidence that UK house prices are falling

I really can't believe that article.
How many over extended mortgage holders are going to hold out for unrealistic asking prices and will end up chasing the market down simply because these 'experts' won't accept they got it so wrong?
It astounds me that even as record after record is smashed as the crash accelerates they believe the bubble can still be saved.
And their denial is getting quite farcical now.... it’s reminding me more and more of the Monty Python dead parrot sketch!

Me thinks this young lady is getting pretty scared that she is going to become one of the most vilified creatures whose unfortunate careers almost mirrored the whole property boom.

"Likewise, I hope that I give sound advice rather than inveigling viewers into “get rich quick” schemes. " says Kurtsie. This err, woman (sorry women) pursuaded a man called Hereward Gleghorn-Brown and his wife, that they neaded to put in a "really good bid" for a country pile that was being sold under a sealed bid system. The Gleghorn-Browns bid was 140k ABOVE the nearest other bidder (they bid 650k and the closest other bid was, I believe 510k). Some how (i suspect the estate agents did this deliberately, just to show how naff and way-out Kurtsie and Phril were) the Estate Agents sent the Gleghorn-Browns information about the other bids! What expert advice Kurtsie!

Far from involving people in "get rich quick" schemes, you have helped to ramp up the market sooo much, I reckon Paul Burrel will get a better press and better reception from the british people when the dust stlles, than a overpaid, sloanie, who, along with all the other "property experts" have singularly failed to let the public in on the great big pyramid scheme you've all been selling.

Shame this story was posted so late - it'll dissapear by morning. Might have to post this peach again. Could set some kinda record for posts this one!

Well said you guys

She has perported to be an expert during the good times, now the games up.

Sarah Beenie has always pointed out it's normally only market movement that has made her 'guests' any money in the developments. She has run a programme without ramping.

Kirsty & Phil, do not try and deny the fact you have been outragous rampers - mainly because of your own heavily vested interest.

I still can't believe the Conservative Party have her on board - amazing.

The reason she is getting a kick up the ar5e is because at every opportunity she still refuses to admit she was wrong - that prices always going up were wrong.
All I ever here her say is lets get house prices rising again at a sustainable rate. NEVER does she say they are unsustainable where they are.
She has the dam cheek to accuse journalists etc of selling up and wanting a crash when there is she with some BTL and her job on the line with TV progammes spewing and dribbling out trash.

She is a fairweather friend everyone can do well without - thats what she is really hacked off about.

How dare u blame other journalists for driving prices down by accusing them of having a vested interest, that is exactly what you did on the way up
How dare u compare yourself to a TV chef, we all have to eat and Jamie has tried to get us healthier, you just promoted "get stuckin" UR a piece of work
