Isn't there some rule that Muslims aren't allowed to make money from charging interest? Will they waive all their dividends in future? Bl00dy hypocrites.

Don't normally comment on my own post...but I think you mean usury, ie interest on loaned money. The Quran forbids usury, not interest, where usury is excessive interest - but there again the Quran and Bible for that matter are open to interpretation. Arabs have been in commerce since there was commerce - this means trade, paying for and selling goods - if money is involved then there are money lenders and interest. You can always use another race or creed to do the dirty work for you I guess. Handy explanation I found on t'internet.... www.submission.org/islam/usury.html

The tables are turning. For decades, western companies reaped profits from overseas subsidiaries - every time a Vodafone customer in India makes a call, a few pennies are wired back to the UK. With the Sovereign Wealth Funds buying up blue-chip companies in the west, now every time we buy a hamburger or make a phone call or deposit a cheque in a bank, a few pennies are wired back to the sovereign wealth funds of Kuwait / Qatar / Singapore / Norway. The tables are turning.....

Sovereign wealth funds have been around for decades whether they are asian or from the middle east. They have alsways been very discreet as not to upset national egos specially when they come to the rescue. They have a very long term investment strategy (sometime 40-50 years), they are very conservative in their strategy and are not accountable to shareholders. They make good and bad investments like anyone else. But they know that in the long run, their investments will go up.
