First time buyers ARE the bears!!

scotsman.com: First-timer buyers need help to ward off the bears

ONE of mankind's most fundamental incentives is securing a safe environment in which to live. True, this was not always the case, with evidence suggesting that our earliest comparable ancestors were nomadic hunter-gatherers, forever moving on to metaphorical and literal fresh pastures in those pre-Tesco days.

I really think the Scots believe that it will be different up there. Similar to the UK saying it will be different "over here".

When we said that, we were not thinking, "It will be worse" which seems to be the message the analysts are giving only 3 months after the "different over here" message. I think the Scottish press are lagging the English. We will see them in the same disaster area in 3 months time. HBOS is next after B&B. Then, there "cautiously optimistic" stance will change radically.

As c76 would say, "BWAHAHHAHAHAHAH".

Scotland was delayed a little with the boom and there will be a small delay for the crash.

The main reason why prices haven't dropped much in the area I live, is that houses just aren't selling and the 3% drop in asking prices just doesnt cut it.

"Even on most pessimistic of assessments prices are not expected to fall more than 25 per cent from their peak"

Mr Lawrie is being a little optimistic perhaps? We have already seen a modest drop year on year and discounts of approximately 10% are already available in some cases for those who negotiate. 25% doesn't seem far away now. It seems that house owners just cannot bring themselves to believe that the market can go against them.

It's going to get very messy "Even on most pessimistic of assessments...". What a dork these people are just gonna have to sit back and ride the donkey like everyone else.

Interesting how weve gone from a "soft landing" to "expected to fall more than 25 per cent" within the space of a year.
