But Gordon, we don't want you to get on with the job. We want you OUT!!
BBC News: I'll get on with job, says Brown
''...Gordon Brown has promised to "get on with the job" of dealing with the economy, following Labour's defeat in the Glasgow East by-election. He told the BBC the government had to "listen and hear people's concerns" over rising food and energy costs.

"get on with the job" of dealing with the economy?
Surely, he means "get on with the job" of DESTROYING the economy?

Sorry to re-post my blog from earlier, but it seem equally relevant. GB is only a small part of the problem, and to go on about him excessively is a diversion.
"GB is actually a 'victim' of timing. IMHO he knew the going was going to get rough, but decided (probably for egotistical reasons) to do the PM job anyway. If Blair had stayed in power he would be loathed just as much, if not more, than Brown is now. Blair had the good fortune to ride the good times and get out while the going was still good. What power does GB actually have to avert the credit crisis? None. To be honest, GB is a straw man figure whom we love to hate. However, despite his many faults (arrogance, statist, control freak, etc, etc) he is not the real culprit, who are probably the unelected financial elite who are currently making a fortune from the middle class and poor. GB is part of this wealth-transfer system, but only a relatively small part."

"I think what people want to know is that we understand and we hear their concerns"
We know you don't, you lying git, no bank bailouts it's just a tax on those that earn, no benefits-based economy, stop propping up the debt bubble and devaluing our currency, teach people to save and work for themselves!
If you can't do that then you and your party can get stuffed!
Harold at 3 - you're right - we hate him, but it's not because of who he is - it's because he was the chancellor who caused all this mess, and if he and his poxy party had any grasp of economics and any balls we wouldn't be where we are because they wouldn't be the b*tches of the bankers!

Actually we are Brown's/Bliar 'victims'. This country has been brought to the edge of ruin by pompous, self-aggrandising, world-class-spinning politicans who only care about feathering their own nests and the palatial nests of their cronies and backers. The other 99.999999% of the UK population can go whistle for all they care.
When the rioting starts I hope that the majority of people in this country will understand that it's being done in all our names. If Mr and Mrs Middle-Class Middle-England with their Daily Express subscription want a comfortable retirement on a comfortable pension they're going to have to fight for it.

harold @3, "GB is actuall a 'victim' of timing... GB is a straw man figure" ??? "What power does GB actuall have to avert the credit crisis?" Well you are right he has no power now, but that's because he has spent all our nation's money over the last 10 years (timing??) and put nothing away. He spent this money at a time when individuals were also spending borrowed money. For example UK is worth 10% of EU GDP but we are responsible for 30% of credit card debt. We have the youngest car fleet out of 27 EU countries bought with the highest proportion of loans. Spend, spend, spend. I won't go so far as to say that our Chancellor could have at least discouraged this, but I will say that he should have balanced a massive decrease in individual saving with a massive national increase in national saving. That way we would have a warchest to take on unforseen circumstances such as an international credit crisis. Why do normal countries keep gold in the vaults earning no money as a RESERVE. It's to protect them against unforseen circumstances. To GB this was just more money to spend with fingers crossed that something unforseen didn't come to pass...

Harold,
Remind me, who was the Chancellor for the 10 years before Alisdair Darling took the helm at the treasury.

Harold,
Gordon Brown is not merely in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is single-handedly responsible for breaking the "golden rule" and building up a mountain of public-sector debt. He should have saved up for a rainy day instead of borrowing to waste on his bulging public-sector wage-roll.

However he will be voted out for reasons other than those desired on this site. He will be voted out for: House prices dropping, finance drying up and higher petrol prices. Tories will get in for advocating: High house prices, cheaper petrol and easy peasy finance, just like last time they were in. Its quite simple Labour wins, you lose, Tory wins, you lose.

Yes but GB has also served his Master's extremely well, as did Blair before him - look at the reward he got, so doubtless GB will get something similar. They don't give a damn about the average person, never have and never will. The lies flow so easily from these 'men', their consciences clear that they ARE doing the right thing - whatever that might be. And it has to be the case otherwise how could they sleep at night and continue to lie, lie, lie to the public all the time... If it were me in GB's shoes I would not be able to carry on at all - the stress the situation I helped to created would be too much to burden, and I would imagine that most of you on this site would feel in a similar position, because we actually empathise with other Human Beings - a label Blair, Brown and 75% of all politicians conveniently aren't hindered by.
But of course we can't rally, demonstrate, express our outrage, let alone physically string the f***ers up by their ankles and belt 'em with rotten fruit, because of the so well timed 'terror' laws now enacted - 48 days (or however long it is now) in a gaol being treated like an animal or possibly tortured because we the people dare criticise their actions. Goy indeed.
Normal, reasonable humans can't make these number of terrible, terrible mistakes, time and f**g time again, if it weren't for a deliberate plot to continually fleece those not in the 'inner circle'. Conspiracy? How in the World can there not be one!
OK, rant over. We should protest though. I'll pick a suitable date in September, or whenever the parasites are back from vacation and we'll simply say (wearing V masks) that enough is enough. We see through your lies, we know that you're all self serving parasites who have never actually worked a full day in your pathetic lives, and that we demand real change. Not a different side of the same freaking coin, but actual reform, because democracy is a terrible illusion and apathy on our parts is all that keeps the veil in place.
Ok, so now my rant is over. Anyone think of a suitable date?

Sorry but I just don't agree with GB being a diversion.
He has been in charge of this country's finances and financial rulebook for over 10 years.
If other people, including the banks, are behaving badly, then he does have the influence and power to make a difference.
The fact is he allowed everything to happen as he saw it serving his own ambitions.
Of all the stupid arrogant tax rules and regulations that have been passed by this swaggering fat idiot just how many of them were designed to prevent a house price boom. Not one that I can think of.
The fact that he is supposedly standing up for the working class is an absolute joke. It's an insult.
That's why his party lost yesterday. Because they care more about their precious party than they do the people who voted for them.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of the above comments.

Do you think we'll seeing rioting like the Poll Tax Riots of 1990? Or would there never be a popular riot under a Labour Government?
16. renting2 said...
You could riot, but there might just be a 42 day hangover to endure afterwards!

I'm sick of this listening to peoples concerns business.
Des Brown on Radio 4 this morning stated that they need to listen to the reason why people were not voted for them. In the next sentence he stated why people did not vote for them, which was fuel and food costs. They just don't get it! Why because they are not listening.
