Where do I sign ?

BBC News: Dubai plans 'moving' skyscraper

The world's first moving building, an 80-storey tower with revolving floors giving a shifting shape, will be built in Dubai, its architect says.
Thank god it's not over here.

That really is an absolutely stunning building.

On the negative side, wait 'til the sand gets into those bearings.

Wouldn't fancy picking up the tab for buildings maintenance in 10-20 years time.

And I'm surprised the narrow blades on those wind turbines can catch enough wind to spin themselves never mind generate any electricity.

And how noisy will they be when they're full of sand.

What a negative vibe merchant I am.

I cant make up my mind whether Dubai is just blowing their oil money with reckless abandon, or making a genuine attempt to postion themselves as major tourist detination for when the oil runs out.

Great building tho...

"Now then, we'll buy all your oil from you just so long as you don't invest our bits of paper in sensible commodities, but instead give it back to our construction companies who will gladly build you megalomaniac-style white elephants."

"Hokay."

"And while we at it, how about a ski-slop in the desert - using the latest green technology, of course."

"Hokay."
