The bigger offensive of the Times ever!! Robert Mugabe is happy the Times seems to ignore him just to pound renters!!

Times: Rent squeeze: 'Flats would be gone as soon as they appeared'

"After dozens of disappointing viewings the couple had almost given up hope of finding any place at all" I can t believe that!! But wait... "They will move in August." What?!!

confused76, yep They've been looking since March. During that time were they always looking for somewhere that would become available in August?

One agent said 'at least 60 per cent of rental leases were being renewed' which translates as somewhere between 30-40% weren't.
She complains that lettings agents didn't call her back... generally they don't. Remember, if you don't want rent this gaffe, the next sap through the door probably will.
Miss Waldren will not be buying a flat in the foreseeable future, preferring the flexibility of renting. None of her friends owns a home. “Renting is the best option for me. House prices are too expensive for me to get a place of my own and mortgage rates make renting a cheaper option,” ...so, not completely stupid then.

"After dozens of disappointing viewings"

“We called 15 estate agents in a week and only three would call us back. The agents I got through to told me they just didn't have any properties on their books,”

Those two statements seem to contradict each other somewhat, if the 3 that phone back had no properties, how did they view dozens of properties.

STR 2007 - i told you them Euro Gals love to rent see the comment:

"Why don't the British reform their housing market? I pay £200 a MONTH for a one-bedroomed flat - including water, rates, the lady that cleans the stairwell, cellar space, bike shed, use of garden, bin men... I just have to pay the electricity bill separately.

No wonder the British are so stressed.

Tina, Dusseldorf, Germany"

Perhaps we should import some European Girls and set up special courses for hen pecked husbands to bring their nagging wives to, so they can be educated into the benefits of renting in a falling market.

str 2007 - Jaaa = Yes, Gerry = German. Tina is a german... 'nuff said. I suppose if you have to explain a joke it loses its comedy value. I will take a look at the B&B post bit later.
