How does Blanchflower manage to keep a straight face?
BBC News: Bank 'considered raising rates'
Some members of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee considered raising rates to curb inflation at its June meeting, minutes have shown.
However, the MPC decided an unexpected rise might have exaggerated the level of its concerns about the outlook for inflation, the minutes said.
Following its discussions, the committee voted 8-1 in favour of keeping interest rates at 5% in June.
One member, David Blanchflower, voted to reduce rates to 4.75%.
The committee voted to keep rates on hold for the second month in a row in June after a number of cuts since December last year.

Can anyone tell me why that idiot Blanchflower is even on the MPC?

Maybe he owns a yacht. He certainly isn't there because of his knowledge or experience.

One word to sum them up...
Idiots!

No idea.
What really annoys me is that as the only dissenter he gets a disproportionate amount of press. For every comment from him saying rates should be cut, there should in theory be 8 comments saying rates should not.
He is making a bit of a mockery of himself.

Does David Blanchflower only have one button on his voting box: "Down"?

Since the fool Blanchflower only ever votes for a cut why is it necessary for the taxpayer to fund his very expensive trips from the USA every month?
Why can't he just email his vote?

Actually, maybe a clue to the reason why Blanchflower always says the same thing is in that episode of Doctor Who from a couple of weeks ago. I don't suppose he's always seen wearing a spacesuit and has two shadows by any chance?
