And the DEMOCRATIC process continues!

Timesonline: Ireland given four months to save Lisbon Treaty

European Union leaders have given Ireland's Prime Minister four months to come up with a plan to save the Lisbon Treaty.
Brian Cowen said as he arrived at today's Brussels summit that it was too soon for him to explain the dramatic referendum rejection of the document last week.
Mr Cowen says he has agreed to come back to the next meeting of EU leaders in October to tell them if he believes a second referendum could succeed, and what his government needs from the EU to run a successful campaign.

When the EU says a national politician is doing a good job, he's usually a traitor to his own people.

Look up the definition of fascism, and decide whether you think the EU's behaviour fits the bill...

And the relelevance to House Prices is...

It seems as though some people are using this blog to push their own indoctrination agenda.

UT Fascism entails an exagerated national pride and a suspicion towards other States.

In a Fascist regime any person open to dialogue towards better integration with others is quickly despatched as a traitor.

Thinking about it, a more truthful headline would have been, "Ireland given four months to comply, or else!"

Your right, sorry Magnifico.

Any piece of news without a reference directly towards UK house prices is of course irrelevant. Shame on me! Sorry for the sarcasm but sometimes dots need joining. Economics is interlinked with a massive amount of other information from a variety of sources. Open your eyes!

Perhaps closer integration will mean harmonised:
tax, public spending levels, quality of service levels, involvement in foreign affairs (ie less), house prices, defence spending (UK drop Nuc deterrent?), amount of population renting, health service provision etc right across Europe.

Most people rejected the treaty because they didn't understand it, so in fact it was actually a gross failure in democracy, communication and a demonstration of the lazy incompetence of politicians these days.
Ireland's politicians, like all others these days, thought they could basically makle f*ck all effort, appear in a few papers, make a few clever soundbites and win the vote. I am against centralised control, but can see the benefits of closer ties with our European neighbours. When the arrogant EU gravy train riders actually start communicating with their people and provide a clear view of what Europe entails rather than pronouncing arrogant dictats and the braying little englanders stop their lies and scaremongering from the sidelines, perhaps the ordinary bloke will get something he can understand and vote on.

Nice one Icarus, I was about to post the same quote, but couldn't remember who said it!
Fasicsm is here; and our beloved Queen signed-off on the bill that was rushed through last night - wonder why.
We really do have to be less apathetic and demonstrate - now back to East Enders.

rental john and magnifico - fascism is central planning by and for major banks and the corporations they control, often under the guise of national economic and/or spiritual recovery. It may throw a few crumbs to the workers and spout religion and/or nationalism, but authoritarian central planning on behalf of private interests is its essence. The Soviet Union and FDR's New Deal were both controlled by western bankers and both were as fascist as the regimes in '30s Italy and Germany (and elsewhere). Fast forward to nowadays - yep, we still have fascist regimes, but the clinched fist has more layers of padding around it. Who needs stormtroopers when the elite controls the media and dissenters can be scared off or silenced more subtly?
montesquieu - HPC is just a small part of this situation.

iacarus - sorry this is a bit late but your point at 14 is very well presented, very clear and for me, very easy to agree with.

ref - HPC is just a small part of this situation. - Perhaps part of what divides some of us regarding what is 'on topic' for this site and what is not is the difference between those who view a house solely (or mainly) as an investment opportunity and those who see a house as a home involving family and future generations.

I think Kings recent boe warning + RBS + BIS + the dramatically presented 40% energy bill increase heavily underscore your closing comment

"HPC is just a small part of this situation." there are loads of 'investment' financial sites out their for investors.
