With exemptions for MP's of course as they have to have two homes and a mistress and have to travel the world being important. Wonder if non-doms will also be exempted.
How much energy will the adminstrators burn up in the vast number of buildings they will occupy?

Totally unmanageable, again illustrates how detached civil servants and members of parliament are from the reality of such an undertaking. The amount of IT infrastructure to administer the system would make it technically unachievable and economically unaffordable.
Complete eco-socialist garbage, high oil prices will achieve more than such a system ever could.

Oh enuii you're so negative.
OK perhaps an entire Carbon Credit system is unmanageable at present but we could make a start.
Nothings impossible if you put you're mind to it.
I think it would do the Western World good to choose a product on the basis of how long it will last and how well it will perform over a longer period rather than the (oh well if it breaks I'll chuck it away and buy another).
Whether right or wrong scientifically, it is saleable to the rest of the world - if we lead the way in measuring individual usage and developing better products this could be a major boost to our economy over the next decade.
After all we can't sell more and more expensive houses to one another anymore - not unless they're zero carbon anyway ;-)

And we all know the Carbon credits will not affect MP's - because they can claim it back from taxpayers via their expense claim.

I believe at the turn of the last century there were so many horses in London that people were sinking under a sea of horse sh*t, I'm surprised they didn't come up with personal horse sh*t credits to solve the problem. This idea is horse sh*t.

Lets have another 800,000 civil service jobs to administer the scheme - this will help disguise the future rising unemployment figures - clueless the whole lot of them.

How about a personal methane production tax?

Generally, the richer you are, the larger your carbon footprint.
Why not make everyone (else) poor, thus reducing carbon emissions!

This strikes me as a totally irrational way of looking after the interests of any country.
Unless everyone in the world simultaneously contracts this particular belief, whoever does it is just going to hurt themselves while others take the mickey. Its just so stupid. Its like the Xhosa's believing if they all slaughter their cattle, the sun will rise red and all their enemies (the British) will be destroyed by their ancestors. The British encouraged this belief and hence wiped the Xhosas out.
A bit of digging perhaps in this respect, when it comes to global warming/climate change?
