PCC, sleeping policeman of the corporate machine.

Swarnturton: The Inevitable Appearance of Bias

The Press Complaints Commission is a body created and funded by the press, adjudicates a complaint based on a Code which the press has drafted, by means of a commission on which the press is substantially represented, and where the newspaper is defended by lawyers expert in the field in circumstances where the PCC will not make an award of costs to the claimant for equivalent expert assistance, where the PCC’s sole power is to make finding that the newspaper has breached the Code (to its own commercial advantage), but no financial penalty is imposed on the newspaper, or compensation awarded to the complainant, and where there is effectively no appeal against its determination. It is funded by the Press and its stated objective is to avoid state regulation.

Apologies for the triple posting today. BUT, this is central to the website here. People post articles by the press. The way that the press is regulated explains the vast quantity of lies, etc. we see all the time. The last post represents a journey I've taken today from innocently making a complaint, to understanding what our one recourse actually represents.

The sleeping policeman of the corporate machine. The blueprint for a corporate, nay I say, fascist state, along with other similar commissions and corporations that administer our country, such as the BOE. No doubt, we will see this type of corruption running right through the various commissions of the EU.

According the Wikipedia, a Commission is a Government Agency. This is the Blairite model for government agencies. Unaccountable, self-serving, despicable.

According to Orwell, Newspeak, using negative words like, unaccountable, is the basis of propaganda. Because it is not merely the lack of accountability, it is not a neutral connotation, it is a negative one with its own characteristics. This is why I use words like Fascism, because the lack of accountability results in self-interest and, in a position of power is the hallmark of fascism.

But if its members are press people, and its funded by the press, it's really just an excuse to try to avoid public regulation.
