New builds coming down in price?
Easier Property: Bag a new build bargain with George Wimpey
Buyers at George Wimpey North Yorkshire's Thorntree Vale development in Thornaby can buy a brand new semi-detached home for a lower price than that of an average older property in the area.
The three bedroom Ryton is on the market for £124,950, whereas the average price for an older semi-detached property in Thornaby, which does not boast all of the added extras of a George Wimpey home, is £148,716*.

New houses are shite - period! I bought one 7 years ago (have since sold it) and it was by Persimmon (who at the time were award winners) and it was a joke. The ground floor French windows had top and bottom locks that had been fitted into a hole that was too large. The monkey that built the house then simply squashed a hand-full of putty into the hole and pushed the lock barrels into it! All the hot pipes were plumbed virtually touching the cold pipes and had no lagging at all - the result was piping hot water coming out of the cold taps. You had to run the tap for about a minute before the water ran cold. The flooring was built with no expansion gaps so ALL the boards creaked after about 2 months. The list goes on - I will NEVER buy another new house.
