Conservative Home: A case for legalising cannabis
But I'll link to it anyway to show that I think about more than just house prices.

Don't post stuff like this here, please.

Do people at a golf club or yacht club ban speaking about topics other than that which the club is named after. Would that be healthy?
Or should a collection of people with a common interest be able to speak of other things that interest them from time to time?
Should our thinking be compartmentalised?
Having said that, I'm none too keen on someone trying to up the hit-rate on their own site!

Conservative Home isn't "my site"! I do cheerfully admit it is somewhat off-topic.

Ease up.

The reason I ask not to post things like this is that it forces other on-topic posts off of the main page and makes it harder to have a good discussion of the topics to which this website is dedicated. It's fine to discuss stuff like this -- there about 1,000,001 other websites where you can do so.

richc -
If you click on the green 'news blog' tag on the main page and then click on 'today' you don't lose any of the posts and can continue any discussion as long as you want.

I agree with richc - interesting or not we just don't need irrelevant links like this. Let's keep it on-topic - there are plenty of other sites people can go to if they want general discussions.

Very interesting Mark. Not sure it has a place here but I've already responded on the other blog!

Has anyone noticed that HPC now has at least 30, maybe 40 articles a day now?
At the risk of flooding the news with irrelevant stuff, the odd offbeat article won't actually be in the top 10 in a couple of hours. Think of it as a small triumph, or a defining moment when we realise that there is now a tsunami of news saying all the stuff we said would happen. At least he knows and has indicated that its off topic (by apologizing in advance for the indulgence).
Don't you ever get bored of hearing that you were right? I know I do.
Talking about marajuana is as good as any topic for the bored I reckon.

Mark W and all, actually this is nowhere near as off topic as some people might think, providing we are awake enough to accept that the housing market and the overall economy have a direct baring on each other in both directions.
Quite simply Cannabis - Marajuana - HEMP - big oil
Big oil, banks and logging interests, demonised marajuana as a means of destroying the Hemp industry which had served manking well for thousands of years. Many things made from oil could be made from Hemp. The oil industry would not have us by the short and curlies as they do had a viable alternative been allowed to thrive. There isn't the time or space to cover this properly here but anyone interested can easliy search out 'What Really Happened' these days. Industrial HEMP is a serious threat to VIs.

The HPC site is already suffering at the start of the crash, what will happen during (how many more years?) and after?
Could HPC be a transient feature of something else?

Quote from Schopenhauer which should be our motto here:
'All truth goes through three stages. First it is ridiculed. Then it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident'.
The reality of HPC is finally entering the latter stages in the national consciousness. At the moment we are between one and two on the issue of drugs legalisation.

@ montesquieu
I think you are about right with your observation there. Legalising all drugs, whilst increasing health awareness campaigning [paid for by sales tax on the drugs] could well be the way forward.
I don't imagine that there are many people who are prevented from taking drugs by the fact that they are illegal. Anyone who wants to can get whatever they want now anyway. Legalising them would have many benefits; but getting people to open their minds to the argument will take time.

Having smoked alot of weed years ago I do have to say that its over rated and can mess your head up in a very bad way. If its going to be smoked it should be treated with respect. Should it be legalised????? I think all drugs should be legalised for a number of reasons.
1. It kills alot of gangs related crime
2. If Heroin, Cocaine and Crack were to be given free to "ADDICTS" and addicts alone then there would be no first time buyers because the risk of supplying drugs would be too great for very little reward i.e. you get someone hooked on drugs then they go to the clinic to be administerd with said drug for free why would they come back to you to buy it? and no crime related to the drug in terms of stealing to buy those drugs.
3. It costs alot less to buy Heroin in and administer to drug addicts preventing them from stealing and getting rid of drug related crime than it does to have an inefective drug squad and that comes from people who have worked in drug squad
As for off topic....this forum has become quite boring since the crash has come and the prophecy has been come to pass and it has been my experience here that this site may have house price crash as its headline however it has proved to be a think tank on many different topics. The house price crash has raised its head due to several factors that come from the way our society is run.......well after a while you start to see that all things are interconnected........or maybe I haveing a flashback.....time for a spliff to calm me down lol only joking
