Brits one wage packet from the gutter

Firstrung: Over half of working Brits would survive finanically for only four months if they lost their jobs - Egg

A quarter of people in Britain have little or no money set aside for emergency situations, according to research by online bank Egg...And what's more, over half of all working Britons (52%) do not have sufficient savings to support their families were they to find themselves out of work, even if only for the UK's average redundancy period of four months.

Is it any wonder when we have seen job security and wages eroded, while being convinced from all sides that home ownership is the best investment. Historically low interested rates on savings, and recent years of lack lustre stock market performance affecting investments - again 'is it any wonder' your average joe has little put by!

Rental sales down = bad = tight fisted consumers. Retail sales up = bad = consumers overspending and taking on too much debt.....guess you can't win in this game!

I dare say when the solid stuff hits the fan....the politicians will blame the feckless masses as usual!

Actually, most Brits are in the gutter already. But they are looking at the stars.
