Take the test, do HPC Prophets have a similar personality type?

Humanmetrics: HUMANMETRICS

Humour me, take the test, I have long thought that HPC prophets have a different personality type, one that makes us not follow the crowd, maybe you could post your results?
This test is based on Carl Jung and Isabel Myers-Briggs typological approach to personality. When answering questions, please choose one of two possible answers you agree the most. If you are not sure how to answer then the decision should be based on your most typical reaction or feeling in the given situation. Respond to all the questions to get a reliable result.

Not sure that this test is really relevant. The personality traits we share are:
» A suspicion of government (see our comments on the Federal Reserve)
» A general suspicion of other people's motives (look how we flame VIs)
» An anti-authoritarian streak, we don't like landlords and probably not our bosses either
» An unwillingness to go along with the crowd - that's why we didn't buy a house last year
» Quite logical amd emotionally detached - it takes a strong belief in logic to not jump into the housing market like every other lemming!
» An interest in news and current affairs (more BBC2 watchers than ITV watchers, unlikely to have Sky tv)
» Reasonably well-educated (if you left school at 16 you probably don't read the Bank of England's quarterly reports in your spare time)

Can you think of some more?

Drewster, check INTJ out on wikipedia.

'They tend to be very pragmatic and logical individuals, often with an individualistic bent and a low tolerance for spin or rampant emotionalism. They are also commonly not susceptible to catchphrases and commonly do not recognize authority based on tradition, rank or title.'

'They are very determined people who trust their vision of the possibilities, regardless of what others think. They may even be considered the most independent of all of the sixteen personality types. INTJs are at their best in quietly and firmly developing their ideas, theories, and principles.'

I think that the definition of INTJ does actually cover more or less all your points.

enuii... yep that's me alright! I count 6 INTJ responses so far including mine.

Still not convinced that it's an HPC thing. I think it applies to people who blog/comment on other websites too. The comments on the national newspapers' websites (Guardian, Times, Telegraph) share similar characteristics.

Interestingly, personality types vary significantly by region and by country. According to a random google search Canada has almost twice as many INTJ types as Britain. There are also marked regional variations within the UK, which explains the north/south personality divide.

Hello all,

I'm pleased to see that this posting seemed to be enjoyed.

I do not firmly believe in such kinds of personality tests, all I know is that my personality type is quite close to my actual personality.

I do understan some amusement at being categorized, the Monty Python, 'I'm not different says it all'.

Though I have not really looked at the results the replies posted do seem to lean towards the N,T and J's. This could be expected.

The number of INTJ's is impressive, these types make up less than 1% of the population, yet, we have quite a number here.

I would be interested in others comments.

I do think its more to do with the fact we have all been resolute in the face of increasing house prices that there are too high, we don't follow the accepted norms and look for other methods to determine truth.

Can I ask a question of my own;
Would you rather a have a long lasting product or a more fashionable short lasting one (eg Car, clothes, mobile phone, TV etc)?
Do you think everything is Sh1t and business/gov't do not serve the needs of society?

gone-to-columbia.... The internet in general should have a disproportionate amount of introverts, that's in its nature. The "T" part is a typically male trait, and I can't help noticing that this blog seems disproportionately male (judging by the usernames). Take a look at www.personalitypage.com/INTJ_car.html - many of the traits listed there are required for house price skeptics.

Given that they only form 1% of the population, the number of INTJs on this site is interesting.

I see from Wikipedia that one of S2R1's charachteristics is:
"ENTJs have a natural tendency to marshal and direct. This may be expressed with the charm and finesse of a world leader or with the insensitivity of a cult leader."
