Pain to last three or four years,

the guardian: HBOS expects three years of pain

The rights issue and fresh credit crunch writedowns had been widely expected in the City, along with a gloomy forecast from the group for the UK economy and house prices.
Hornby made it clear that he expected the current market downturn to last "not just for 08 and 09" but for three or four years
