Huge writedowns at Delta and Northwest, and liquidity worries at United, show the industry is in trouble yet again.

The airline industry as we know it is 100% doomed and they make an ideal short. Planes can only be run cheaply on cheap oil. Now that's history so are cheap flights and the airline industry with it. In 20 years there will likely be only a handful of international airports left running super planes carrying 1000 passengers at a time. Everything else will be by rail.
